PAT Inspections

What is Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)?

PAT is the examination of electrical appliances to ensure that they are safe to use. Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual inspection, but some types of defects can only be found by testing.

How frequently do I need to test my electrical appliances?

This depends on the type of appliance and the environment in which it is used. All of our PAT inspection stickers include a date when the next inspection is due, but you can always Contact Us if you are unsure.

Can I do my own PAT Inspections?

A sensible person can undertake their own visual inspections. However, someone with the correct knowledge and training is required to carry out full inspection and testing. PDG Electrical carries out comprehensive inspections on all pieces of equipment.

Do I need to have all of my equipment PAT tested?

While there is no legal requirement to have PAT Inspections carried out on your equipment, the law does require that equipment is safe to use. This assurance comes with a PAT Inspection carried out by a qualified and experienced team of electricians.
